It’s spring and the herbs are popping! We’re ready for some bold flavors and this box delivers. Enjoy herbs, citrus, Asian flavors, and Mexican flavors for many versatile dishes.

Here is what to expect in your April Saucefly box:

  • Snickerdoodles – A classic cookie . . . like a sugar cookie with cinnamon. The mix is ready for you to just shape and bake.

  • Spiced Tamarind Margarita – Sara’s margaritas are legendary and even among legends this tamarind margarita stands alone. The flavor is earthy, spicy, tangy, and fruity. Just delicious!

  • Roasted Hazelnut Gremolata – A gremolata is an Italian condiment that adds fresh, clean herbal and citrus flavors from parsley, lemon zest, and garlic. Adding hazelnuts adds a delicious nutty note. It’s traditionally served with roasted meats like osso bucco but it can also elevate chicken, white beans, soups, eggplant, potatoes, tofu, or anything where a hit of bright fresh flavor is called for.

  • Herb Aioli – Is there anything that Herb Aioli can’t make taste better? Packed with fresh herbs, an aioli is a great alternative to oil-and-vinegar dressings and is a very versatile way to add flavor. With all those eggs you might have from Easter egg hunts, try making an egg salad or deviled eggs using this instead of mayo. Dollop it on fish or fresh vegetables, or slather it on a BLT.

  • Nuoc Cham Salad Dressing and Thai Dipping Sauce – In Thailand it’s common to find a bowl of this dipping sauce on just about every table. It’s citrusy, umami-rich taste goes perfectly with egg rolls, spring rolls, steamed buns, grilled meats, or veggies and rice or noodles.

  • Pickled Carrot and Daikon – These slightly sweet, vinegary pickles are traditionally served on bahn mi sandwiches. They are also a common side dish on Korean tables, to add a pop of flavor to whatever you’re eating.

  • Thai Honey Glaze – The weather’s getting nice enough that grilling and eating outside is imaginable again. Use this glaze to add zesty-spicy-sweet flavor to your next meal. Check out this PDF for a couple more ideas, including a quick and easy batch of chicken wings.

  • Roasted Molcajete Salsa – A molcajete is the traditional Mexican lava rock mortar. In a salsa recipe like this, the ingredients are ground together with a mortar and pestle, to release the juices and inherent flavor in each item. Roasting the ingredients adds a smoky depth. Dip veggies or corn chips into it, add to burritos or nachos, or serve it on roasted meats or mushrooms. Top a burger with it.

  • Coconut Green Curry – This one will make an easy and delicious dinner. Not spicy! It’s a thick creamy sauce that is the perfect blend of coconut, herbs, and citrus. Simply cut up your protein (tofu, chicken, shrimp) and your veggies (onion, carrot, green and red pepper, carrot, potatoes, etc) and saute in a pan. Cook some rice on the side. Add the sauce and blend to combine. Dinner’s ready!
